GM LSX Crate Engines

Refine Results

The LSX crate engine, manufactured by Chevrolet, is based on the LSX Bowtie Block. What it does, compared to the LS crate engine family, is take horsepower and torque to the next level. Its design far surpasses that of the engines in production vehicles, making it ideal for racing applications.

There are several small-block V8 variants thereof that you still see these days, such as:

  • The LSX376-B15 (part number 19355575) -- we carry a replacement for this model; check out part number 19417356
  • The LSX376-B8 (part number 19260831)
  • The LSX454 (part number LSX454 19355573) -- we also carry a replacement for this model; see part number 19417357

What Makes an LSX Engine a "Crate Engine"?

They include most if not all of the engine parts you'll need for an install -- namely, a block, a rotating assembly, a cylinder head, and a camshaft, plus an air intake, a carburetor, and some others. Some parts, or even the whole engine, can be remanufactured, if not rebuilt, while others can be used, but most, you'll find for sale online brand-new.

What does this mean for an engine replacement or upgrade project? The process gets a lot easier: for the most part, you won't have to build or rebuild your vehicle's engine, let alone, in your case, buy crate engine parts separately.

So, what should you keep in mind when shopping for LSX crate engines online? Be sure to order the genuine article, not aftermarket parts.

Why Buy a Genuine OEM LSX Crate Engine?

GM designs them to spec for your model. Crate engines and parts from an off-brand, on the other hand, may not always carry the same guarantees as a factory LSX.
