GM Shocks & Struts

When should you consider replacing your shocks and struts? (1) When your vehicle has over 50,000 miles on it; (2) if the front end of your vehicle “nose dives” when braking hard and fast; (3) if your vehicle bounces excessively after hitting a bump; (4) if your vehicle veers in a crosswind, such as when you’re passing a tractor trailer; (5) if there is vibration in the steering wheel at speeds of 55 MPH or more (which could also be mistaken for an unbalanced tire); (6) if there is uneven or premature tread wear in one tire; (7) if there is fluid leaking in the vicinity of the wheels, especially if you commonly drive rocky or bumpy roads; (8) if there are dents in the shock or strut housing; (9) when your auto repair specialist recommends it. Shocks and struts should be examined every 12 months or 12,000 miles.
